Mochipet Live at Solar Eclipse Festival Sulawesi Indonesia 2016

Recently I had the honor of playing at the first Solar Eclipse Festival in Sulawesi Indonesian. Located on an island just east of Borneo, the festival was like nothing I have ever experienced before. Thousands of people from all around the world gathered and danced on top of a Aboriginal Indonesian Reservation to watch a Full Solar Eclipse in the middle of nowhere. There were stages and tree houses completely constructed out of bamboo and recycled materials. The infrastructure was all made to be sustainable as possible and I did not meet one person I did not like the whole time I was there. There were local acts as well as artists from all around the world. Sure there was problems, they were doing a full scale festival in the middle of nowhere. But what came out was nothing short of amazing. I wish you were there to share in my experience but since you were not please enjoy my set from the show; it contains many unreleased tracks as well as some side projects which will be released officially in the upcoming months!

P.S. Thanks to Aaron Mountain / Projekt Seahorse for the art!

EDM.com Premieres Mochipet’s Remix of Kraddy’s “No One Saves Us But Ourselves”

NOSUBO_COVER

Mochipet and Kraddy are at it again remixing each other. You may remember the 2009 remix of “Godzilla Porn” and “Marshall Bass Stacks.” Now it seems they have grown up a bit with “No One Saves Us But Ourselves” and “Spark (not yet released).”  Whatever the case, they are always monster remixes and great pieces of music. Don’t forget to check out the amazing Samsara Baraka Re-edited Video by Karen Wei it adds a whole new dimension to the song! And Yes! of course it for free download, did we even need to say it? Enjoy! Big Thanks to EDM.com for Premiering This!

Mochipet sends his new album “Rawr Means I Love You” to fans for free before it is even released to the public!

Mochipet - Rawr-Means-I-Love-You_web

Earlier this year, I was playing a show in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and someone decided to steal my laptop out of my backpack at the venue. I was of course in disarray, well because someone jacked my laptop! but more importantly, I was in the middle of tour and had to complete many more shows before I was able to head home.  With help from my friend Eric, we spent hours to navigate our way through the Mardi Gras madness to go to the Apple Store, many miles away, so I could buy a new laptop that was not what I needed, but could work, charged it on my credit card with money I didn’ t have at the time,  so I could return it after tour was over.  Shortly after I posted about my stolen laptop on my social media, I was sure it was gone but  just in-case there was any chance it might have been seen; I know it was a long shot. But more importantly, I was worried the thief could go on stealing more laptops from other artists without anyone being aware of the situation. Not expecting much, I posted some tracks to start a laptop fund and help spread awareness about the situation. To my surprise, donations started coming in at a substantial rate. Not only did my fans donate to my fund but they also helped spread awareness of the situation! I was able to raise enough to get a new laptop when I got off tour. I am very grateful for this, not only because I was able to replace the laptop that was stolen from me, but because people actually took time out and resources to help me in my time of need. To this I will always be grateful, and I promised that once my next album was finished I would send it to them free of charge before it is released to the public!  =)

I have learned a lot about insurance and tracking systems for keeping your laptop going to the wrong hands when your on tour. If you would like more info on this you can read my post here.

Happy Holidays! I hope you enjoy the album!

Jonah Brown (AKA Th’ Mole): LOGFATHER

Following the recent release of Th’ Mole & Friends: Love In The Chaosphere, an uncharacteristically mature and artful album for the psychedelically-styled MC/producer, comes the completely juvenile side-project, Jonah Brown: Logfather.  Featuring guest MC’s Myka 9, Ngafsh & Wormhole, the 18 tracks consist entirely of braggadocious battle rhymes in a style reminiscent of the Beastie Boys, but instead of the traditional subject matter (rhyme skills, money, sexual prowess) Jonah and cohorts rap strictly about… poop.

Although one Amazon reviewer whines, “Seriously? A weak-ass rapper wastes his time and $ making a recording about sh*t and really expects people to buy it?” others disagree. Another review contends, “Jonah Brown’s debut on Daly City Records is confusing, creative, awe inspiring and funny. It’s also very well produced…”  Meanwhile Th’ Mole’s press release eloquently states that “Jonah Brown aims to subvert a universal taboo, placing all cultures and classes on common ground via this embarrasing bodily function. In addition the project is a reaction to the pomposity and self-aggrandizement commonly displayed in hip hop culture.”

Decide for yourself what you think of the Logfather by listening at soundcloud.com/motionrecordings, where you can also download the lead single, “The Doody Dance” for free.  Purchase the entire release for $8.99 at Amazon.

Mochipet Beastie Boys Remix on Oddbloggins

By now, you surely already have heard that Beastie Boy MCA aka Adam Yauch passed away this past Friday, May 4, 2012, after a long battle with cancer.  This would be a pretty shitty beat blog if we didn’t pause for the man with the beard like a billy goat.  The Beasties will go down in history as legends in hip-hop, and, for our purposes, as some of the greatest innovators of the sample game.  Hell, Paul’s Boutique….
