a.vanvranken Landed available today!

ARTIST: a.vanvranken
TITLE: Landed
LABEL: Daly City Records
CAT-NO: DCR164
FORMAT: Digital
RELEASE DATE: 8/26/11

Landed is the third LP from idm and downtempo producer A.VanVranken, produced and fine-tuned over several years. Taking a cue from more mellow idm and ambient influences such as The Flashbulb and Autechre, Landed is grounded in melody and intentional beats rather than the harder idm-style turbulent noise. Starting things off confidently with the sunny roadtrip of ‘Tomorrow’ and ending with the deliberate calm chaos of ‘Scy’, the album guides one through bright and danceable head-bobbing moments, industrial suspense, and introspective interludes catered by mysterious, unintelligible vocal samples allowing you to insert your own context into each track. Elements of non-idm artists such as El-P and Black Moth Super Rainbow sneak into tracks like ‘Trench’ and ‘Miguel’ to add variety and complexity to the soundscape, with intriguing distortions and repetitive glitchy hooks scattered throughout to flow it together in a carefully-arranged and cohesive package. Landed might best be described as ‘active background glitchbient shoegaze’ – a soundtrack for a beautiful day spent outside, or afterhours chilling at home.

Tracklisting:
1. Tomorrow
2. Landed
3. Do Not Fall
4. Timedquiet
5. Be Careful
6. Comfort
7. Trench
8. Mine
9. Miguel
10. Scy (feat. Teresa Flowers)

EXCLUSIVE MOCHIPET INTERVIEW @ City Full OF Neon Lights

Man I really really love blogging… I wish that I could really turn my attention back to ISoA but for now? This blog has taken on a life of it’s own. Even if I don’t post tracks from all the promos I’m getting I end up with enough interviews to keep this thing interesting…

ON THAT NOTE… this interview turned out to be one of the most interesting ones I’ve read in a while. I always liked Mochipet but now I respect him as well.

Less Than 3| Prehistoric Drops

Thud.. thud.. thud.. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMP!!!! If Jurassic Park were anything like Mochipet envisioned, that famous scene with the T-Rex might have sounded a lot like this. Recently, Mochipet released a new single off of his upcoming album Rawr Means I Love You. The single, Whomp-A-Saurus Sex. From about fourteen seconds in, Mochipet does what he can to let you know he isn’t joking around with this one. This is one of those tracks where the name is eerily onomatopoeic. When you listen to it, you may get the impression that you’re in a mechanized Jurassic Park, running from T-Sex.. er.. Rex, himself.

In a time where too many people either receive acclaim too easily or simply buy their way into the industry and mp3-players of fans all over (if this is you – yeah, you suck for it). J’aime Le Dubsteb #114- SF Series: Mochipet

Well, well, what a surprise we’ve got here! Our fourth mix in our San Francisco Series, and our JLD mix #114 coming in from the biggest purple dinosaur since Barney & Friends, MOCHIPET !!!! If your unfamiliar with the name, then we’re gonna change that.

I’ve been a fan of Mochipet ever since his 2007 release Girls <3 Breakcore, wither or not this is true is irelevant, because I like girls who love Breakcore. In fact Mochipet has been releasing music since 2002 in all sorts of styles but mainly remaining in the IDM 8bit esthetics going up to Breakcore. From what I can tell he made his move into the world of Glitch Hop, very succesfully I may add, in 2008/09. His album Master P On Atari is a great listen and I recommend it (Girls <3 Breakcore too, if your into the harder and faster riddims). So it goes without saying that I’m more then proud to release this wicked mix by Mochipet, the San Fancisco Purple Dragon Dinosaur.

Root Up EP from Living~Stone coming 7/12

ARTIST: Living~Stone
TITLE: Root Up EP
LABEL: Daly City Records
CAT-NO: DCR166
FORMAT: Digital
RELEASE DATE: 7/12/11

Living~Stone is an alchemist of frequencies. Blending elements of Dubstep, hip hop, glitch hop, mid-tempo and much more, to make up a sonic salad of bass music. Repping “Canada’s Most fun City” Montréal, where a host of talent is burgeoning through the cracks of the city streets.  Living~Stone makes Bass Music. Sometimes that means making experimental Dubstep sounds, and sometimes it means glitchy hip hop. Wherever the music leads, Living~Stone follows. What ever you call it he loves making and playing it.

Performing live sets filled with deep, wonky, glitchy and serious sub oriented sounds Living~Stone is a performer you need to experience. ”He is a jump up raver behind the decks. He is quite blatantly having as much fun throwing down the tracks as the bouncing pit of happy before him. He’s behind the booth but there is no division between him and the dance floor. His IS the dance floor. Pushing the genre to its party maximum, while previously loved tracks are given a new lease on life new ones are tested, the reactions noted and all the while the revelry continues. Just try and stand still to this dub monkey’s big sound”.Quote by Kate Reddington (Snap Mag)This ep is a melting pot of styles. Deep and woeful aromas of rumbling sub bass blended into a soundscape of glitchy, industrial, glitch hop & Dubstep revolutions.

2.May this Battle be your Last (Feat. PsiPhi)
3.Root Up (Feat. Jah Faith & Riz Logers)

End of the World Party from SXSW Producer Contest Winner GRiZ coming 6/28

ARTIST: GRiZ
TITLE: End of the World Party
LABEL: Daly City Records
CAT-NO: DCR165
FORMAT: Digital
RELEASE DATE: 6/28/11

A true pioneer and master of musical expression, GriZ (Grant Kwiecinski) stands head-and-shoulders above the competition in terms of the sheer variety of his ever-evolving technical prowess. A tremendously passionate and soulful producer, GriZ has a peerless knack for creating profoundly engaging melodies to offset the presence of his phenomenally designed bass. Where many artists become mired in a over-simplified and standardized method of production for the sake of creative efficiency; GriZ has no qualms sacrificing speed for the sake of quality, technical diversity, and an unrelenting devotion to progress and dynamism.

Beginning his saga as a producer at the young age of fourteen, it is immediately evident that his talent and devotion will lead him on a journey of exceptional musical diversity and exploration. From funky rhythms to jazzy melodic embellishment, GriZ effortlessly incorporates his instrumental zeal for the saxophone with his lifelong dedication to soulful, laser-infused beat-making. This is only the beginning for Grant, and already the stylistic range of his material is both inspirational and utterly awe-inspiring.” -Written by Ethan Baer (SubSynthesis.com)
