If you're looking for the perfect soundtrack to a superfast-paced,=20 multitasking life, then Mochipet's Girls [Heart] Breakcore, with = its=20 frantic, breakneck drumbeats, booming bass, and edgy but satisfying = energy, is=20 what you need. Mochipet is talented one-person band David Wang (Daly = City=20 Records' prolific founder), and his instrumentation for this project = includes a=20 laptop, guitar, bass, and controllers. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, but = having lived=20 here since age eight, Wang crafts breakcore landscapes that are broader = than=20 most: he digs into his Chinese heritage for inspiration on tracks such = as "Botan=20 Ricecore" and "Beijing Operacore," on which he perfectly melds a = haunting=20 Chinese opera female vocal with a hypnotic zillion-beats-a-minute = riddim. Other=20 standouts include the sample-happy, sonically neurotic "Weaselcore" = (with Weasel=20 Walter of the Flying Luttenbachers) and "Donkeycore," which is like a = Baltimore=20 club track revved up to 10 times its normal speed. In fact, with = Girls,=20 Wang has somehow managed to successfully sculpt a breakcore album with = soul and=20 warmth despite the relentless, heart-racing bpm driving this 73-minute, = 22-track=20 CD.
